Goodreads Doesn't Have It, Data Migration: The 50 Minute Supervisor

This is a very helpful book if you need something to hold onto at the beginning. The author clearly states they are on the team of a more scientific, prepared approach instead of an "easy-going, common sense" approach. So that felt good to know I'm doing the right thing studying.

This also talks about something that I saw coming up. When I was promoted to a leadership role in a past job, people really were angry. They had trouble transitioning from seeing me as an equal and friend to someone they had to listen to. This book is good because it addresses that you need to transition how they see you and the way in which you talk to them otherwise you can't do your job.

The "unforgivable mistakes" bit was helpful too. People who can't keep big promises make terrible supervisors. We see that over and over again; people are genuinely traumatized by them and they can't be allowed to move up because of that.

There's a lot that I don't feel completely ready for but a lot that I do. I needed some prior research and I'm glad the universe manifested this in time at my local library.
