Goodreads Doesn't Have It, Data Migration: The Afghanistan Papers
Covers all the hard topics such as the fact that Russia is behind a lot of the seemingly endless funds here, the fact that money was used as a weapon, pedophilia problem for boys is apparently cultural here in a truly disturbing fashion, tech fetishism that didn't even end in tangible results due the sloppy guess and check methods of trying to prevent the opioid crisis there, and the fact they don't put all of these pieces -- overspending by people not thinking straight and trying to win hearts and minds, lies by people saying they'll burn their crop just after they sell it, underspending on structure by people reliant on a painkiller and an international market that doesn't want them to prioritize anything else, Russian proxy wars for opioid money and supply(as usual), and the fact that unchecked pedophilia, in this case to boys in particular while girls are completely disregarded as not human, causes pain and incentivizes pain killers. Typical good for one thing syndrome funded by white men's burden types who end up being grossly incompetent guessing and checking with huge amounts of funds that they haven't even remotely used to the same degree in their native countries.
